Uniform Policy
Rationale:
Wearing the school uniform enhances the safety of students involved in
school activities, including easy recognition of visitors within the school
and of the students outside school grounds.
The uniform identifies students within the community as belonging to
Lake Macquarie High School and helps to develop a sense of pride and community
among students.
The Department of Education and Training and our School Community support
the wearing of uniforms by students and the upholding of high standards
of dress.
Aim:
- To encourage students to take pride in themselves and our school
- To eliminate peer pressure.
- To provide students equal access to the full range of school activities
Implementation:
- Students are expected to wear school uniform during school hours, whilst
travelling to and from school , and whilst engaged in school activities
outside of school hours (unless otherwise specified by the school)
- Staff will be asked to check uniform each morning in roll call and send
any students who are not in uniform to the Head Teacher Administration.
Students will be given an out of uniform note for the day, asked to change
into appropriate clothing or have their parents contacted.
- Positive reinforcement and encouragement of responsible behaviour will
be the school's main strategy. Everyone has a role to play in setting
the standards for the school. Teachers and other staff appropriate
standards for students. They should dress in a professional manner
at all times
- Students who do not comply with school uniform may not be able to participate
in some activities such as excursions or practical activities such as
Science or TAS where leather shoes are required for the safety of the
students.
