Aerosol Products Policy

Rationale:

Owing to the serious nature of the allergic reactions of  members of the Lake Macquarie High School community to aerosol  products such as deodorants, hair spray and body spray  the school community is banning these products.    

Aim:

To ensure the health and safety of Lake Macquarie High School students.

Implementation:

Aerosol products are not to be brought onto the school grounds.  

Students are asked to use pump sprays instead of  aerosol cans, or use liquid or paste forms of products.  Pressurized aerosol products emit unnecessary volatile organic chemicals and produce a fine mist that is easily inhaled and absorbed into the lungs and  bloodstream. Teachers have been asked to confiscate any aerosol products found at school and bring them to the Deputy  Principal.  Parents will be informed that the products have been collected from their child and that they can call into the school and collect the product. 

Products will not be returned to students.
